“Reissu starttas 8.30 hallin pihasta. Hyvällä mielellä kohti Jyväskylää ja keltinmäkeä”. Pelaaja Kateriina Myyryläinen kertoo miten naisten 3-sarjan joukkueen kävi turnauksessa:
“The journey started at 8:30 from the hall’s yard. With a good mood towards Jyväskylä and Keltinmäki.” Player Kateriina Myyryläinen tells how the women’s 3rd division tournament went:
We arrived well in advance, so we had some time to watch and size up the opponents before warming up.
The first game against Korpilahden Pyrintö started well. We gained a good lead of 12-5 due to the opponent’s mistakes, but then we started making mistakes ourselves. KorPy began to catch up, and after a good start, the first set ended in favor of KorPy 19-25.
The beginning of the second set was more even. Points and mistakes on both sides until it was 14-14. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep it together. Too many mistakes on our part, and the second set ended with the same score as the first, 19-25 in favor of the opponents.
In the last third set, we improved enough to make fewer mistakes. With good serves, the opponent couldn’t attack properly, while our good receptions and defense allowed us to make good attacks from our side. This set was also tight but eventually turned in our favor, 25-23. The first game went to KorPy 2-1.
The second game against Huki Jyväskylä was pretty much a repeat of the first game. This one went straight to Huki 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16).
But we play well! We have a strong serve! We scored many aces. Unfortunately, our attacks went out of bounds a bit too often.
For the next tournament on November 25, which is fortunately at home in Pihtiputaa, we will practice hard to get on the ball and launch all our attacks into the opponent’s court at the speed of light!
