Ukoille kylmää kyytiä Liperissä
Antti Rasi kertoo kuinka kylmää kyyti oikein sitten oli:
Sunnuntaina oli aika aloittaa pelit vietetyn joulutauon jälkeen ja ukot suuntasivat Liperiä kohti. Reissulle
lähdettiin vajaalla miehityksellä ja kyytiin asteli vain viisi peluria kotisalin pihasta, onneksi kuitenkin
Jyväskylän pojat olivat joulutauon jälkeen hereillä ja saapuivat vahvistamaan ryhmää. Matka taittui
pelipaikoille ja valmentajan arpakone raksutti 8 hengen rosterista miehiä avaukseen.
Eka erä
Ensimmäiseen erään lähdettiin laittamalla Eljas ja Ilkka yleispelaajien paikoille. Keskitorjujiksi Lauri ja Viljami.
Hakkuriksi Antti. Oskari hoiti totutusti passaamisen ja Miko takakentän hommat liberona.
Erän kulku oli alusta asti selkeää ja joukkueet napsivat pisteitä vuorotellen aina tilanteeseen 15-15 asti,
jonka jälkeen Liperi sai muutaman hyvän onnistumisen ja pääsi pienelle etumatkalle (18-15). Ukot
kuittasivat tämän karkumatkan muutamalla hyvällä syötöllä ja pian oltiinkin tasoissa (19-19). Erän
ratkaisupallojen alkaessa kuitenkin vierailija Plokin eväät oli syöty ja näin erä Liperille (25-23).
Toinen erä
Toiseen erään samat miehet samoille paikoille ja peliä! Erätauolla tehtyjen suunnitelmien täyttäminen
osoittautuikin vaikeammaksi mitä kuviteltiin, ja toinen erä alkoi ukoilta yskähdellen. Vastustaja joukkue
karkasi erän alussa (7-3) johtoon. Erä tuntui luisuvan ukkojen käsistä ilman suurempia taisteluita ja
vastutaja iski jo tilanteeksi (18-9). Lopussa vielä koitettiin saada pelistä kiinni mutta Liperi sinetöi erän
tylysti (25-16) itselleen.
Kolmas erä
Toisessa erässä saadun kylvetyksen jälkeen pistettiin arpakone taas raksuttamaan ja
mietittiin kuinka saada pelistä enemmän irti. Muuten samat miehet kentälle, mutta Eljas
hakkurin paikalle ja Antti yleispelaajaksi. Kolmannen erän alku osoittautuikin heti paremmaksi ja ukot
karkasi (7-3) johtoon. Vastustajan muutamilla virheillä ja ukkojen paremmalla otteella Ploki
karkasi parhaillaan (19-12) johtoon. Kuitenkin kolmannen erän loppu oli kylmä kuin viime
viikko ja ukkojen jalat näyttivät jäätyvän paikalleen. Vastustaja napsi piste pisteeltä
lähemmäksi, onnistuen lyömään tilanteeksi (17-19). Ukot koittivat kääntää pelinkulkua
aikalisillä mutta kelkka ei kääntynyt. Valmentaja veti vielä yhden ässän hihasta ja laittoi
Matin Hakkurin paikalle, ja niin vain pallorallin päätteeksi Ploki otti pisteen. Vastustaja tuntui
kuitenkin vain sisuuntuneen tästä ja ukkojen jäätyneet jalat eivät liikkuneet riittämiin, näin
ollen liperi hoiti erän lopun väkevästi itselleen (25-22).
Cold treatment for Ukot in Liperi
Antti Rasi describes how the game went after the Christmas break:
On Sunday, it was time to start the games after the holiday break, and the guys headed towards Liperi. The trip started with a shortage of manpower, with only five players getting on board at the home arena. Fortunately, the boys from Jyväskylä were awake after the holiday break and came to strengthen the team. The journey passed to the playing venues, and the coach’s lottery machine selected 8 players from the roster for the starting lineup.
First Set:
The first set began with Eljas and Ilkka in the roles of outside hitters, Lauri and Viljami as middle blockers, and Antti as the opposite hitter. Oskari handled the setting duties, and Miko took care of the backcourt as the libero. The flow of the set was clear from the start, with teams scoring points alternately until it reached a tie at 15-15. After that, Liperi had a few successful plays and took a small lead (18-15). However, the guys caught up with some good serves, and soon the score was even (19-19). As the decisive points approached, Ploki struggled, and Liperi won the set (25-23).
Second Set:
The same players took their positions for the second set, but executing the plans made during the break proved more challenging than imagined. The second set started with the opponents taking an early lead (7-3). The set seemed to slip away from the guys without much resistance, and the opponent extended their lead (18-9). Despite trying to get back into the game towards the end, Liperi decisively secured the set (25-16).
Third Set:
After the tough second set, the lottery machine was activated again, and they pondered how to get more out of the game. The same players were on the court, but Eljas moved to the opposite hitter position, and Antti took the outside hitter role. The start of the third set was immediately better, with the guys taking a lead (7-3). With a few mistakes from the opponents and better performance from Ploki, they built a significant lead (19-12). However, towards the end of the third set, the guys seemed to struggle again, and the opponents closed in, bringing the score to (17-19). Despite attempts to turn the tide with timeouts, the situation didn’t change. The coach pulled one last trick from his sleeve, putting Matt in as the opposite hitter. Eventually, Ploki secured a point after a rally, but the opponents, fueled by this, closed the set strongly in their favor (25-22).
